PROPELLER 3.0 is designed to reduce the effect of patient voluntary and physiologic motion (breathing, flow, peristalsis), and reduce magnetic susceptibility artifacts. It helps generate consistently good, diagnostic quality images even for challenging patients and difficult-to-image anatomies.
PROPELLER 3.0 uses a radial k-space filling pattern that, compared to the Cartesian method, is inherently less sensitive to motion such as CSF and blood flow, breathing, patient tremor, or voluntary movements. In addition, a sophisticated motion correction, post-processing algorithm is deployed to further reduce effects of rigid motion. The oversampling of the k-space center typical for radial k-space filling yields increased signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) and high tissue contrast. Scan time is the same as conventional techniques, and PROPELLER allows free-breathing acquisition.
PROPELLER 3.0 is enabled for T1 FLAIR, T2, T2 FLAIR imaging in all planes, axial diffusion weighted imaging for brain, T2-weighted imaging for cervical spine, Body, and T2/PD-weighted imaging for MSK.
"I have been using PROPELLER T2 and PROPELLER T2 FLAIR routinely on all brain MRI scans at my facility during the last 4 years. During that time, I have NEVER had to repeat a PROPELLER scan."
