CT Dose Optimization

Course overview
After completing the course, participants will have knowledge of the consequences of each protocol parameter for radiation dose and patient safety. Participants will also have knowledge of methods for reducing radiation dose and how to optimize them for different anatomical regions while retaining image quality.
The course aims to provide an understanding of how radiation doses are given to patients, how we measure radiation doses and how the choice of scan parameters affects the radiation dose given to patients and the image quality in the scan.
This course covers:
- Optimizing image quality and radiation doses
- Dose regulation
- Image processing
- Program options/settings and knowing their effects on the patient
- System performance
- Measuring methods
- Target audience
Radiologists, radiographers and medical physicists.
